TRENDS – Belgium (Virtual)

Located in Brussels, the heart of Europe and home to key EU institutions, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), leading international organizations, and a vibrant policy, diplomatic, and media community, our virtual Brussels office serves as a vital bridge between the UAE and Europe. This initiative reflects TRENDS Research & Advisory’s commitment to fostering informed dialogue, advancing mutual interests, and contributing to global policy conversations from a uniquely Gulf perspective.

Key Objectives

1. Establish a Strategic Research Presence in Brussels:

Deepen UAE-Belgium collaboration and position the virtual office as a platform for strengthening TRENDS’ engagement within Belgium’s academic, policy, and media communities. The office will build partnerships with leading Belgian think tanks, universities, and research institutes to advance joint studies, knowledge exchange, and dialogue on shared priorities such as sustainable development, innovation, trade, and social policy. The virtual office will also support public engagement efforts that enhance mutual understanding between the UAE and Belgium and contribute to more informed bilateral cooperation.

2. Strengthen UAE-EU Strategic Dialogue:

Leverage the virtual office to deepen TRENDS’ engagement with EU institutions and policy communities by facilitating virtual briefings, joint research initiatives, expert dialogues, and public discussions. The office will contribute to ongoing conversations on shared priorities such as energy transition, climate action, technological innovation, and regional security, supporting greater mutual understanding between the UAE and the European Union.

3. Monitor EU Policy Trends Relevant to the Gulf:

Utilize a team of Belgium-based researchers to track and analyze EU policy developments in foreign affairs, energy, technology, migration, and security. Their insights will inform the UAE’s strategic planning and enhance TRENDS’ ability to engage with evolving European perspectives on Gulf-related issues.
