E-Symposium

International Law & Cyberoperations

Cyberoperations, which include cyberwar, cyberterrorism, and cyberattacks, significantly impact countries and their people’s affairs. Even though there is a perception that international humanitarian laws apply to such operations, there is a lack of global consensus over their legal definitions. There are also no international laws governing these operations and specifying the state’s responsibilities. Hence, there is a need to understand international laws’ role in monitoring and regulating cyberoperations and fixing all stakeholders’ responsibilities. It is equally important to understand whether the government’s involvement can achieve the desired objectives considering the massive and rapid advancements in this field.

Proposed Topics

  1. Cyberoperations, Threat to International Peace and Security, and Future Warfare
  2. Cyberoperations and International Law: Reality and Challenges
  3. Experiences of the State in Regulating Cyberoperations (Case Studies)
  4. Toward an International Legal System to Deal with Cyberoperations
