Dr. Amr Mahmoud ElShobaki is an expert at Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and a Member of its Constitution Committee since 2013. He has been an independent member of the Egyptian Parliament from 2012 and 2014 and a member of the EuroMeSCo steering committee from 2005 to 2009. He is also a Columnist with the Egyptian newspaper Almasry Alyom since 2006.
Dr. ElShobaki has an MA Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) from The Institute of Political Studies, France, and a Ph.D. Comparative Political, Paris University 1 (Sorbonne), France, in 2001. His books include Limits of Change in the Dogmatic Structure of Violent Extremist Groups: A Comparison Between Islamic Jihad, the Islamic Jama’a and ISIS, Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and Tabah Foundation, February 2020 and Crisis of Political Parties in Egypt, Arab Strategic Report, Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, 2018.
He has published several research papers in Arabic, French, and English language periodicals dealing with Arab and Egyptian political systems, political Islam movements, European political systems, and issues facing European Islam. He has also written numerous articles in Al-Ahram, Al-Ahram Strategic Periodical (Cairo), Al-Hayat (London), Al-Khalij, and Al-Bayan (UAE), Al-Sharq Al-Awsat (London), and Le Figaro, France.
