A senior researcher specialized in global affairs and security, he is a fellow at the Cairo School for Liberal Sciences and Arts (CILAS), where he teaches Futures politics and philosophy of science. Muhammad received a master’s degree in Global Affairs with a focus on international security from the American University in Cairo. After his graduation, he joined the World Bank sponsored project on “Building for peace: Reconstruction for Security, Sustainable Peace, and Equity in MENA. as a researcher among the AUC team. Muhammad studied political science in Cairo University and the Free University in Berlin. He has authored several published peer reviewed papers and book chapters. Currently his research focuses on war economy, especially in Libya, geo-economics of conflicts in MENA and applied foresight. He is the author of “Scenario Planning: A Critical Guide” in Arabic. Also, he translated several titles from English into Arabic. His fields of interests are regional security dynamics, geo-economics, futures studies and modern political thought in the Arab world.
