Stephen Scalet is an Economic Affairs Expert at TRENDS Research & Advisory. Based in the United Arab Emirates, he has worked in a variety of economic advisory and analytical roles across the energy sector, including oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, nuclear regulation, and renewables. As a practitioner, he has participated in the development of sector-level policies as well as in program implementation, regulatory development, and institutional capacity building.
His research interests revolve around the intersection of energy, economics, and international collaboration, including energy geopolitics, climate change, energy transition, industrial decarbonization, and the economics of sustainability. Stephen has an undergraduate degree from the London School of Economics, and postgraduate degrees from the University of Oxford (Trinity College) and Harvard University.
