A dialogue session between: The Biodiversity and Marine Life Sector at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and TRENDS Stresses the Importance of Scientific Research for Resolving Climate Issues



A dialogue session was held between the Biodiversity and Marine Life Sector of the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and TRENDS Research and Advisory. The session focused on the role of scientific research and its impact on advancing climate action efforts. The session which was held within the framework of exchange of experience falls in line with the UN convention on Climate Change Summit at its twenty-eighth session of COP28. The meeting is set to enhances joint efforts on the warm up to COOP28.





The session was held at TRENDS headquarters in Abu Dhabi. It was attended by HE Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary, Biodiversity & Marine Life Sector at the Ministry and Dr.  Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS and a number of researchers.


The discussion focused on scientific research and its role in serving environmental work and studies, as well as issues of sustainability. The two sides discussed the possible means to enhance mutual cooperation in this field.





His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for Biodiversity and Marine Life Sector, said that the discussion dealt with mechanisms for benefitting from the expertise of   TRENDS and its efforts in the field of climate research and studies, relevant advisory and opinion polls. The two sides shall promote joint cooperation in the field of sustainability. Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi praised TRENDS center notable efforts in this respect. He also congratulated TRENDS on the occasion of winning the Sustainability Award at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2023, in recognition for its efforts, publications and activities in the field of environment and sustainability. Dr. Al Hammadi expressed his admiration for the quality and diversity of TRENDS’ publications covering subjects of interest. He appreciated the TRENDS Center’s keenness to empower young people, raise their capabilities and refine their skills to enable them to innovate and learn. This great effort would enhance the young generation contribution to make the future.





Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali CEO of TRENDS stressed that the center, as an independent research body with a global orientation, seeks to strengthen its partnerships to serve comprehensive knowledge. He reviewed TRENDS' efforts in studies related to climate action and the environment, as well as its efforts in support of the COP28 conference, through scientific activities and conferences and its daily work.   A higher committee of young researchers at TRENDS follows, researches and proposes initiatives in a way that supports the conference and achieves its objectives.


Dr. Al-Ali stressed that TRENDS Center works through its capable researchers, experts, research studies, training programs and opinion polls, to provide knowledge content on climate and environmental issues. The Center covers other topics that will help specialists, academics, institutions and respective agencies to achieve their goals with balanced scientific research visions.
