His Excellency Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Director of the National Cybersecurity Council (NCSC) of the UAE Government, participated in a panel discussion organized by TRENDS Research and Advisory, on the sidelines of its participation in the 40th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair. During the panel discussion, His Excellency Al-Kuwaiti spoke about the importance of cybersecurity in supporting the UAE comprehensive national action, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, and several members of the TRENDS Council for Young Researchers.
During the discussion session that came within TRENDS’ Cultural Program, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti stressed the importance of cybersecurity in supporting the process of development and digital progress, at a time when reliance on technology in practical and social life is steadily increasing, and the trend towards digital transformation is growing globally.
Al-Kuwaiti explained that cybersecurity is extremely important in confronting both development challenges and the risks surrounding various areas of life, as it now affects all economic, political, military, social and humanitarian matters.
Empowering young competencies
The Director of the National Cybersecurity Council also stressed the need to empower young talents and involve them in creating the digital future that constitutes a UAE priority, and the need for them to understand what cybersecurity is as a new variable in international relations, and to realize the importance of this concept after it has become an imperative in today’s world, especially in light of the link between international developments and the digital and technological aspect.
In this context, His Excellency praised TRENDS Research and Advisory for its efforts in the field of digital studies and research, saying that he highly commends TRENDS’ quality publications, international events, and varied initiatives aimed at empowering young people to become competent, creative and distinguished researchers.
Scientific cooperation
In a related context, the UAE government’s Cybersecurity Council signed a memorandum of understanding with TRENDS Research and Advisory with the aim of enhancing scientific and research cooperation and benefiting from the available databases, information and research. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Director of the National Cybersecurity Council of the UAE Government, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory.
The memorandum provides for cooperation between the NCSC and TRENDS in the undertaking of research on topics of common interest, and the exchange of experts and researchers to benefit from mutual expertise. Cooperation also includes the exchange of publications and research on shared topics related to knowledge and technology, as well as organizing events, symposiums, and lectures on topics of common interest.
Global research output
His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti expressed his pleasure at this cooperation and partnership, and commended TRENDS for its accurate, sober and globally-oriented output that seeks to actively contribute to making the future through quality events and publications that address regional and global developments and issues, in addition to its work to qualify young national cadres capable of contributing effectively to the development process.
Al-Kuwaiti explained that the NCSC reflects the forward-looking vision of the UAE leadership and the country’s proactive approach in facing the various challenges posed by the acceleration of digital technologies, through specialized and effective entities capable of providing digital protection and securing the advanced infrastructure, thus ensuring business continuity and the provision of services in a regular and effective manner.
Spreading science and knowledge
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali praised the important national role played by the UAE government’s Cybersecurity Council and its prestigious position, and stressed the importance of cooperation with the Council, which constitutes an advanced and immune digital system that enhances the UAE’s leading position in the world in various fields.
Al-Ali highlighted the common visions between the two sides that serve the process of spreading science and knowledge, and their participation in making the future using advanced technology and digital information, in accordance with the principles of mutual benefits, tolerance, human fraternity and the rejection of extremism and hatred.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali pointed out that this agreement stems from TRENDS’ eagerness to strengthen research and scientific partnerships with major institutions and bodies active in the fields of development, as well as regional and international think tanks concerned with spreading knowledge and enabling stakeholders to prepare for future challenges.
