During his visit to TRENDS Research and Advisory and his meeting with Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, His Excellency Moez Benmime, Ambassador of the Republic Tunisia to the United Arab Emirates, praised the Center’s research and scientific activities.
His Excellency emphasized the importance of research and scientific cooperation between TRENDS Research and Advisory and its counterparts in Tunisia and offered to provide assistance in facilitating research cooperation agreements between TRENDS and research centers in the Republic of Tunisia in order to exchange knowledge between them and strengthen scientific efforts which support the establishment of more productive international relations. He welcomed the idea of cooperation of TRENDS with a number of Tunisian researchers and experts who published some their research work at TRENDS.
His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia explained to TRENDS researchers the measures taken by Tunisian President Kais Saied on July 25, 2021, saying that those exceptional measures were necessary to confront a danger threatening Tunisia and to address the failure in tackling national crises, especially the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
He confirmed that these decisions have preserved the stability of the country and its institutions and restored sovereignty to its people. He also lauded the historical and strong relations between the Republic of Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, and the commitment of the two countries’ leaderships to further strengthening them in all fields.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, welcomed the Tunisian Ambassador and explained to him the research and scientific activities as well as the services provided by TRENDS on various global issues in service of decision-makers, researchers and academics.
Ways of cooperation between TRENDS and Tunisian think tanks were discussed during the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mazin Ahmad Yousuf, Head of Administrative Affairs Sector; Dr. Fatouh Haikal, Head of Scientific Research Sector; Mr. Fahad Al-Mahri, Director of the Global Barometer Department; Mohammad Salim Al-Salimi, researcher; and Abdullah Khalif bin Mutraf, researcher. In the meeting, Dr. Al-Ali stressed TRENDS’ keenness on enhancing research cooperation with Tunisian think tanks and research centers, pointing out that this is part of TRENDS’s strategy to build effective research and scientific partnerships with the various research institutions in the region and the world at large in a way to its desired goals of serving decision-makers and strengthening the culture of scientific research.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali presented a commemorative shield to His Excellency the Tunisian Ambassador in appreciation of his visit, as well as a set of TRENDS’ books and publications.
