TRENDS Research and Advisory signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) in Saudi Arabia, with the aim of strengthening research and scientific cooperation between the two parties. Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TRENDS Research and Advisory, and Dr. Saud bin Salih Al-Sarhan, Secretary-General of KFCRIS, signed the memorandum.
The memorandum stipulates cooperation between the two centers in conducting research, making joint use of their accumulated scientific and research expertise, enhancing partnership in the fields of knowledge and research, and providing a formal and legal framework for communication and coordination between the two centers with a view to achieving their shared research goals.
The memorandum aims to enhance research and academic cooperation between the two centers in areas and issues of common interest, with the aim of supporting robust scholarly research, widening research base, serving the community and guiding decision makers.
The areas of cooperation include joint research, especially in social, political and economic studies, and the exchange of experts, researchers and non-resident fellows at the two centers to benefit from their experience and contributions to the publications, scholarly journals and websites issued by the two parties, in addition to their participation in research events organized by the two centers.
Cooperation also includes the joint organization of research and scientific events, such as conferences, symposiums, panel discussions, workshops and lectures, besides the exchange of publications issued by the two centers, the issuing of joint research and reports, and the joint use of databases available at each center.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TRENDS Research and Advisory, stated that the MoC is part of TRENDS’ drive to strengthen research and scientific partnerships with major regional and global think tanks, with a view to contributing to the achievement of comprehensive development, security and stability. He praised the leading role of KFCRIS in enriching social research and spreading awareness about Islamic issues from a civilized perspective that embodies the Islamic values of tolerance, coexistence and moderation.
For his part, Dr. Saud bin Salih Al-Sarhan said that the MoC aims to enhance research and scientific cooperation between the two centers through joint projects, programs and initiatives. He pointed out that the signing of the MoC is part of KFCRIS’ endeavor to strengthen cooperation and bilateral relations with local, regional and international research institutions and organizations.
Since the beginning of 2021, TRENDS Research and Advisory has signed agreements and MoCs with numerous research centers inside and outside the UAE, among which is the MoU signed with the Arab Youth Center (AYC) to enhance cooperation in conducting research on issues related to youth in particular, as well as cooperation in carrying out field surveys and public opinion polls aimed at understanding the priorities of Arab youth.
TRENDS also signed a cooperation agreement with Rabdan Academy, which covers collaboration in research and issues of shared interest, especially political, security and defense issues. In addition, an MoC was signed with the Russian Council for International Affairs aimed at strengthening research and academic cooperation, as well as an MoU with the National Center for Leadership and Sustainable Development in Jordan to strengthen research and scientific cooperation on issues of sustainable development.
KFCRIS was established in 1983 with the aim of spreading knowledge and awareness about the heritage of the late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in order to preserve his memory and document his contribution to serving humanity. It also aims to support dialogue and the exchange of knowledge, with a focus on research in humanities, social sciences and the preservation of Islamic heritage.
