The agreement will ensure greater cooperation in the space economy, space exploration, the space sector’s role in supporting sustainable development, and the knowledge economy

ABU DHABI, November 4 – TRENDS Research & Advisory has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Sadeem Astronomy to enhance research cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The agreement will ensure greater cooperation in the space economy, space exploration, the space sector’s role in supporting sustainable development, and the knowledge economy. The partnership scope also includes the joint organization of workshops, seminars, and conferences related to these subjects.

Mr. Ahmad Al-Astad, Scientific Advisor at TRENDS Research & Advisory, said the signing of the MoU is part of TRENDS’ drive to enhance partnerships with various research centers. “We are keen to strengthen cooperation in areas that serve sustainable development,” he said.

Mr. Al-Astad said that the agreement with Al-Sadeem is consistent with TRENDS Research & Advisory’s philosophy, which focuses on areas that support the knowledge economy. “Knowledge economy has become a priority for many countries due to the increasing uses of the outer space and its applications to improve the quality of human life on earth,” he said.

He emphasized that investment in space economy has become a trend with major powers following studies that suggest that many planets close to earth have rich mineral reserves, which are used in advanced technology industries.

During 2020, TRENDS has signed several MoUs with many international centers, including the Geneva International Peace Research Institute in Switzerland, to strengthen cooperation in social research related to international relations, peace, and conflicts. It also signed an MoU with the Washington-based Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) to boost research and media cooperation.

TRENDS recently signed an MoU with SAGE International, Australia, to increase cooperation in organizing workshops and symposiums, developing security and information policies, and strategic forecast.

The think-tank has signed another MoU with the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies (Mitvim) for cooperation in opinion polls and hosting forums on peace and security issues in the Middle East.

TRENDS has signed another MoU with the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies to bolster cooperation on the Middle East and North Africa issues. This MoU will ensure joint studies on the peace process, Iran, Turkey, the Middle East’s political economy, cultural and social issues, political Islam movements, and terrorist and extremist organizations.

Another MoU has been signed with the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security to strengthen cooperation and share databases, information, and research available to each party.
