For the first time, TRENDS Research and Advisory participates in the Amman International Book Fair at its 20th edition held from September 23, 2021 to October 2, 2021, at the International Motor Show Hall in the Jordanian capital. The TRENDS delegation presented a distinguished collection of scholarly publications that included books and scholarly series covering many political, economic and security areas and political Islam movements.
On the sidelines of the Book Fair, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, also participated in the “Media Against Hate” conference, which was held in the Jordanian capital on September 27-28, 2021 at the invitation of the Muslim Council of Elders.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali said that his participation in the Amman International Book Fair comes within the framework of TRENDS’ actively presence in Arab and international cultural forums, and as a reflection of its vision regarding the importance of this type of cultural event in bringing peoples together. This was especially the case given that the Amman International Book Fair constitutes an important cultural event that attracts thinkers, researchers and academics, as well as major Arab and international publishing houses.
Dr. Al-Ali explained that the publications featured in the Book Fair was characterized by diversity and richness, and covered a range of issues that attracted the attention of the Arab and international community. The topics covered included political Islam, sustainable development, tolerance and coexistence, and shifts in the international order in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He pointed out that the various TRENDS publications are characterized by credibility and objectivity, and have become a reliable reference for researchers, scholars and academics in the region and the world, given that they adopt well-established and internationally-recognized rules and foundations that characterize scientific research. They also provide in-depth content that explores the future.
He added that TRENDS’ participation in the Amman International Book Fair also coincided with other participations by TRENDS in international fairs, including the Dubai Expo, which is the most prominent event in the world, the Frankfurt International Book Fair, and the Riyadh Book Fair. This involvement reflects TRENDS’ willingness to attend important forums due to the importance of culture and knowledge in spreading the values of goodness, tolerance and peace and exposing the misguided, destructive and perverted ideas for the sake of a humanity.
The Center’s publications featuring in the Book Fair include a distinguished series of the latest scholarly publications, which include several books on the Muslim Brotherhood, namely “The Muslim Brotherhood: Circumstances Surrounding its Establishment”, “Organizational Structure of Muslim Brotherhood: Features, Targets, Future”; “The Special Apparatus of the Muslim Brotherhood: Inception Objectives and Evolution”; and “Economic Structure of the Muslim Brotherhood: Money, Business and Finance Networks”.
These books also include “Reviews in the Experiences of Islamist Movements in the Post-Arab Spring: The Ennahda Movement as a Model”, in addition to the translated book “The Closed Circle: Joining and Leaving the Muslim Brotherhood in the West”, authored by Lorenzo Vidino, Director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University.
Other books among those presented monitor the transformations the world has witnessed in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, most notably “The Post-Covid-19 World: Limits of Possible Change in the Global Order”; “The European Union’s Role in the Post-Covid-19 World”, “Oil Markets in the Post-Pandemic World”; “The UAE and the Covid-19 Pandemic: a Model in Crisis Management and Achieving Sustainable Recovery”; “Covid-19: Toward Reviving Economies and New Normal Development Strategies”; and “Covid-19 Vaccine Development: A Fierce Race to End the Pandemic and Learning from History”.
The Amman International Book Fair is one of the most prominent Arab and international fairs, in which dozens of countries and hundreds of publishing houses participate and whose activities attract the elite of Arab and foreign thinkers, intellectuals and creators.
