TRENDS Research & Advisory conducts an opinion poll on
remote education to get to know the views of parents and educators about remote education in the United Arab Emirates and understand their preferred method of education for the upcoming school year.
The opinion poll is conducted by TRENDS’ Global Barometer Department within the framework of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation recently signed between TRENDS Research & Advisory and Emarat Al-Youm newspaper, with the aim of strengthening partnership and cooperation between research centers and national and international media.
The remote education poll seeks to provide a community service to citizens and residents of the United Arab Emirates. It asks them questions about the education method which, in their opinion, is most suitable for their children in the upcoming school year.
The survey includes several questions that aim to gauge the views of parents and educators about the education methods they find appropriate for their children as well as their evaluation of the remote education experience last year.
The remote education poll asks parents about their preferred method of education in the upcoming school year for kindergarten students: classroom method, remote method or hybrid method (remote and in the classroom).
It also asks parents about their preferred education method for the upcoming school year for the Basic Level students – primary or elementary level, Cycle 1 (Grade 2/Year 3 and below), giving them three options: classroom method, remote method or hybrid method (remote and in the classroom).
Furthermore, the poll asks parents about their preferred education method for students at the Intermediate level (Cycle 2) as well as the Secondary level (Cycle 3) for the upcoming school year.
The poll asks parents to rate last year’s remote education experience on the following parameters: learning achievement of students, electronic platforms provided by the school, performance of teachers and the remote education experience in general.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, said that the new opinion poll on remote education conducted by the Global Barometer Department comes in the interest of keeping pace with local developments and dealing with societal issues imposed by COVID-19.
Al-Ali stated that the remote education poll is the first outcome of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation between TRENDS and Emarat Al-Youm, which aims at enhancing cooperation between research centers and local media institutions so as to serve the UAE society and achieve the shared vision of both sides to empower the future with knowledge.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali pointed out that remote education was adopted in most countries of the world as a precautionary measure to protect students during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the UAE was one of the first countries to adopt it for all students in 2020.
Mr. Omar Al-Nuaimi, Director General of TRENDS Research & Advisory, noted that the new opinion poll comes at the start of the new academic year 2021-2022. It targets parents of students at various educational levels, as well as educators, to gauge their views on their preferred education method: classroom method, remote method or hybrid method (remote and in the classroom).
Al-Nuaimi pointed out that the UAE has developed an effective remote education system. It offered training to teachers to enhance their abilities to manage the remote education process. It also provided smart educational platforms and a free internet network to make it easier for students to complete their studies during COVID-19.
The Director General noted that TRENDS has specialized research and technical cadres capable of preparing qualitative opinion polls that serve the community, adding that the results of the polls are very accurate as they rely on artificial intelligence and latest technology.
