Douglas London, author of “The Recruiter: Spying and the Lost Art of American Intelligence,” is a retired Senior CIA Operations Officer and 34-year veteran of the Clandestine Service. He served extensively across the Middle East, South Asia, the former Soviet republics, and Africa, including three assignments as a Chief of Station and one as a CIA conflict zone Base Chief. Douglas is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and a non-resident fellow with the Middle East Institute and the University of South Florida’s Global and National Security Institute. He has written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Politico, Just Security, and the Hill and appears regularly on CNN as a national security contributor. Douglas speaks French and Russian.
