Senior Advisor

Marwa specializes in comparative civil-military relations, with expertise on Turkey, Israel, Egypt and the Arab Gulf States. She is a published author in peer-reviewed academic and policy journals that cover international relations, global security, and U.S. foreign and defense policies.  Marwa has more than 20 years of experience teaching and lecturing internationally in higher-education institutions in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She was recently an Assistant Professor of Defense and Security at Rabdan Academy and Zayed Military University in Abu Dhabi. She has been a Lecturer on comparative civil-military relations and Israel Studies at the University of Maryland, and a former Non-resident scholar at the Middle East Institute’s Defense and Security Program and Strategic Foresight Initiative. Marwa received her MA in International Communication and PhD in comparative Middle East politics, both from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is fluent in Arabic, French, Turkish, and Hebrew.
