Mike Sexton

Mike Sexton is the Senior Policy Advisor for Cyber and Artificial Intelligence at Third Way, focusing on optimizing the societal benefits of dual-use technologies like cryptography and generative AI.  Before joining Third Way, he directed the Cyber Program at the Middle East Institute, where he edited and published the anthology “Cyber War & Cyber Peace in the Middle East.” Mike has also served as Associate Director of the Qatar-America Institute, Senior Analyst at The Chertoff Group, and Data Manager at the Chicago Project on Security and Threats. He holds a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, and an MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, where he focused on the national security implications of ubiquitous encryption.
