22 Sep 2025

To strengthen knowledge-based communication, the TRENDS Research & Advisory Virtual Office in the Jordanian capital, Amman, launched its first intellectual and research activity by holding a dialogue session titled Integration of Research, Academic, and Media Institutions to Enhance Decision-Making.

The session witnessed notable attendance, led by H.E. Dr. Mohammad Hussein Al-Momani, Minister of Government Communication and spokesperson of the Jordanian government, and H.E. Dr. Mohannad Mubaidin, former Minister of Government Communication, along with a TRENDS delegation headed by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory. Other participants included Mr. Jaafar Al-Zoubi, Director General of Al-Mamlaka TV; Mr. Hazem Salem Al-Dmour, Director General of STRATEGIECS Institute; Ms. Heyam Al-Karaki, Director General of Al-Rai Newspaper; and Mr. Raed Omari, Editor-in-Chief of the Jordan Times. Several academics, researchers, and media professionals also participated, enriching the discussion with diverse perspectives.

Mr. Fahad Essa Al-Mahri, Director of the Global Barometer Sector at TRENDS, moderated the session. He explained that launching the Virtual Office in Jordan is part of the center’s strategy to build intellectual bridges and knowledge networks capable of supporting decision-makers in confronting rapidly evolving challenges.

The keynote speakers — Professor Dr. Radwan El-Sayed, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research College at Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities; Mr. Hazem Salem Al-Dmour, Director General of STRATEGIECS Institute; and Ms. Heyam Al-Karaki, Director General of Al-Rai Newspaper — emphasized the vital role of knowledge integration. They stressed that integrating research, academic, and media institutions is the most effective way to provide decision-makers with reliable and objective scientific insights, free from narrow biases and agendas. They affirmed that accurate data and in-depth analysis form the cornerstone of building effective and sustainable policies.

The speakers highlighted that think tanks are central to this integration, bridging specialized academic research and decision-makers’ real-world needs. They explained that think tanks contribute to shaping future visions and anticipating challenges before they arise, enabling proactive steps rather than reactive measures.

They also underlined that the media, as a link between research institutions, the public, and decision-makers, is an essential partner in this ecosystem. They affirmed that responsible, professional media can simplify complex research, illuminate key issues, and create public awareness, supporting informed decision-making.

The speakers concluded that academic research is essential for anticipating and shaping the future. It is not merely an academic activity but a systematic process that enables societies to understand potential challenges, identify future opportunities, and develop innovative solutions.

They stressed that planning for the future based on precise scientific analysis has become necessary in a world marked by rapid change. This is where think tanks’ role becomes crucial, as they transform theoretical research into actionable strategic visions, providing decision-makers with analytical tools that help chart future pathways for the state across various political, economic, or social sectors.

The participants unanimously agreed that the inauguration of TRENDS’ Virtual Office in Amman represents a qualitative step and a launch toward consolidating an integrated research environment with tangible impact at the local, regional, and international levels.
