The discussion emphasized the role of think tanks and universities in analyzing contemporary issues and supporting evidence-based policymaking.

TRENDS Research & Advisory welcomed a delegation from New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) on an official visit to explore prospects for institutional cooperation in research, academic, and training fields. The visit comes as part of TRENDS’ strategy to expand its network of partnerships with leading international universities and academic institutions, and to enhance knowledge integration with prominent research institutions in the United Arab Emirates.

During the visit, the NYU Abu Dhabi delegation — comprising Eric Dietrich, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, and Lolowa Al Marzouqi, Associate Vice Provost, Office of Undergraduate Education — was briefed on TRENDS’ research ecosystem, organizational structure, and methodologies adopted in knowledge production, foresight studies, and peer-reviewed reports. The delegation was also introduced to TRENDS’ key research initiatives and the advisory services it provides to governmental and academic institutions, particularly in the areas of intellectual security, geopolitical analysis, and future studies.

In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, delivered a comprehensive presentation on TRENDS’ vision and mission, highlighting its rapid expansion at both regional and international levels, as well as its commitment to knowledge localization, the empowerment of national talent, and the attraction of young researchers.

An extended dialogue session was held to discuss opportunities for joint research collaboration and the potential launch of specialized initiatives and training programs for students and faculty. The discussion emphasized the pivotal role of think tanks and universities in analyzing contemporary issues and supporting evidence- and data-based policymaking.

Both sides also explored avenues of cooperation with the TRENDS International Training Institute. The delegation reviewed the Institute’s portfolio of specialized programs in scientific research, policy analysis, strategic foresight, and advanced professional skills. The visitors expressed interest in these programs, noting that they offer modern, practical tools that enhance academic and professional readiness and align with the demands of the knowledge-based labor market.

Members of the delegation praised the advanced level of TRENDS and the TRENDS International Training Institute, affirming that the visit contributed to shaping a clear vision for a promising strategic partnership between the two sides.

The head of the NYU Abu Dhabi delegation stated: “We are pleased to cooperate with TRENDS Research & Advisory and highly value the Center’s professional standards, both in terms of the quality of its studies and the competence of its research staff. The training programs offered by the TRENDS International Training Institute represent a valuable addition to the academic and professional development opportunities available to our students and faculty. We look forward to translating today’s discussions into a sustainable research and training partnership.”
