TRENDS Research and Advisory has released a new study in English, entitled “Pioneering Future: The Integral Role of Women in Shaping AI.” The study highlights the exceptional contributions of women to AI. However, despite the undeniable strides made by women in AI, their representation in the field remains disproportionately low.

The study was conducted by Noor Al Mazrouei, Head of AI and Future Studies Department at Trends. examine the profiles of female leaders in cutting-edge AI research, such as such as Fei-Fei Li, professor of computer science at Stanford University and the founder of the Stanford AI Lab, and Andrea Gallego, professor of robotics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Pioneers are demonstrating a commitment to building more inclusive and ethical AI systems, and their areas of work span diverse areas, such as healthcare and education, with a focus on addressing real-world challenges.

The study provides concrete examples of women’s contributions to the development of AI applications, such as customized learning tools, that meet the individual needs of students and contribute to bridging the educational gap. These endeavors demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality education for all, regardless of their background.

This underrepresentation is even more pronounced when considering the broader landscape of AI and machine learning, with only 22% of professionals in these areas being women. The impact of this gender gap is not merely a matter of numbers; it affects the development and direction of AI technologies.

The study stated that although women make up only 22% of the global AI professionals, they are actively contributing to leading the field. The report highlights revolutionary projects led by women, such as Brain 2030, which aims to simulate the human brain. These projects demonstrate the power of women to make a radical difference in AI.

The study provides recommendations on how to support female talent in AI, such as scholarships, mentoring programs, and networking opportunities. The report notes the importance of highlighting successful role models for women in the field, such as Daniela Ross, a professor of computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as an inspiration to the next generation of women in AI.

The author emphasizes the importance of mentoring and communication in enhancing women’s careers in the field of artificial intelligence. Mentoring from leading women in the field can provide women with a different perspective and models of ethical leadership, as well as the importance of having a diverse AI workforce, including women. Women offer different perspectives that improve the ability of AI systems to interpret data and make sound decisions.

The study concluded by emphasizing that the transformative impact of women in AI is not limited to engaging in technical expertise; they are a catalyst for groundbreaking progress, guaranteeing a future for AI that is as inclusive as it is revolutionary.
