Concluding the Chinese Leg of its World Research Tour TRENDS Research & Advisory Strengthens its Research Cooperation with Leading Chinese Academic and Research Institutions

TRENDS Research & Advisory wrapped up a five-day research tour in China, which saw a distinguished, fruitful participation in the 2024 Beijing International Book Fair. During the tour, TRENDS continued to strengthen its relations with major Chinese research centers and academic institutions by signing two new cooperation agreements and organizing rich panel discussions with a number of prestigious research bodies. New Agreements TRENDS Research & Advisory and the University of International Business and Economics in China signed a research cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration in research and studies, exchanging expertise and information, and organizing joint events. Both parties emphasized that this agreement is a significant step in the area of research cooperation. During a panel discussion following the signing of the agreement, the two parties underlined the importance of strengthening research and knowledge exchange between think tanks and academic institutions. Furthermore, TRENDS’ researchers visited the university museum and learned about its collection of historical artifacts. Moreover, TRENDS signed a similar agreement with the Institute of Country and Regional Studies of Beijing Language and Culture University. The agreement aims at fostering sustainable cooperation in scientific and academic fields, enhancing cooperation in the field of studies, sharing knowledge on global developments, and conducting joint research on issues of shared interest. Rich Pannel Discussions Over the five days of the tour, TRENDS’ researchers engaged in lively and informative panel discussions with representatives from six leading Chinese research institutions. The discussions aimed to explore joint scientific publishing and collaboration between think tanks in analyzing current issues and crises. Participants exchanged views on various regional and global matters, and discussed the role of research in developing insightful visions, contributing to solutions, and proposing ideas to address challenges and disseminate knowledge. These institutions included Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, where participants discussed developments in the global economy, the challenges and opportunities facing China, and the role of China in the international financial system; the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, where discussions tackled issues related to international relations, China’s foreign policy, and regional challenges; and the Center for China and Globalization, where  discussions focused on China’s rise as a global power, and the Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on the global economy. Moreover, at the University of International Business and Economics, participants discussed developments in the Chinese economy, the role of Chinese companies in the global economy, and investment opportunities in China. The discussions were also held at the China Center for Information Industry Development and the Institute of Regional and Global Studies of Beijing Language and Culture University. They highlighted the importance of scientific research and opportunities for joint cooperation. The discussions also explored developments in the field of information and communication technology, its impact on various sectors, and China’s role in technological innovation. Knowledge Cooperation  TRENDS’ researchers and experts, along with their counterparts from the six research centers and institutions, emphasized the importance of enhancing research cooperation and exchange of expertise and knowledge, underlining the essential role of this in foreseeing and understanding events, providing robust visions that contribute to finding innovative solutions to address challenges. Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, expressed his pleasure at the research tour in China and its outcomes, which would strengthen TRENDS’ global position and open new prospects for joint cooperation. He emphasized the importance of such meetings in promoting understanding, constructive dialogue, and exchange of ideas on various issues. For their part, the heads, directors, and officials of the six Chinese research institutions stressed the importance of these dialogues and agreements. They expressed their interest in cooperating with leading research institutions around the world, at the forefront of which is TRENDS Research & Advisory. They praised TRENDS’ global vision, rigorous research efforts, and professionalism, which have established it as a reference in various topics. They also expressed their aspiration for further cooperation through exchange of researchers, organization of joint conferences and seminars, and publishing of research and studies.
