TRENDS Concludes a Successful Visit to South Korea

   

TRENDS Research and Advisory, in collaboration with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo, is organizing its fourth annual international conference on September 18-19 under the title “Sustainable Security in 2024 and Beyond: The Role of AI”, at the University of Tokyo, Japan. The conference will feature ministers, officials and over 30 experts and researchers from around the world. In media partnership with the Union News Center.

TRENDS previously held its first and second annual international conferences in Washington, D.C., in partnership with the Atlantic Council, while the third was part of COP 28 activities in Dubai. The fourth conference, taking place in Tokyo, comes at a time when the world faces increasing challenges, from regional conflicts to climate change and cyber threats.

   

   

The conference will gather a distinguished group of experts, researchers and decision-makers from around the globe to discuss the role of artificial intelligence in addressing these challenges and in building a more secure and sustainable future.

Over two days, the conference will feature six sessions covering various topics, including AI Governance and International Relations, AI Advancements and Sustainable Global Security, AI and Energy Security, The Geopolitical and Research Implications of AI in Warfare, AI and the Reorganization of the Body-Machine-Society Relationship, and AI Development and Political Governance.

   

   

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, stated that the fourth annual TRENDS international conference, coinciding with TRENDS’ 10th anniversary (its Bronze Jubilee), will serve as an important opportunity and platform for communication and collaboration among experts, researchers and decision-makers from around the world. This will contribute to enhancing international cooperation in AI and building a more secure and sustainable future.

He added that choosing Tokyo as the location for this year’s conference aligns with the launch of TRENDS’ Tokyo Office and its research partnership with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo, a leading scientific and technological institution. Dr. Al-Ali emphasized that TRENDS, with its global vision, has established itself as a knowledge bridge between the region and the world through its influential events and research studies.

   

   

TRENDS Concludes a Successful Visit to South Korea

TRENDS Research & Advisory concluded yesterday the first leg of its current Asian tour in South Korea, including Japan and Indonesia. The visit featured research events and activities that strengthened the Center’s presence in the region and opened new prospects for academic and research collaboration.

   

   

Opening the 8th Office and Launching a New Book

As part of the tour, TRENDS inaugurated its 9th office on the campus of Korea University, marking a significant step in expanding the scope of its operations in Asia. The office started its work by launching a book titled “Cybersecurity and AI,” highlighting the challenges and opportunities presented by AI’s rapid development in cybersecurity.

In partnership with Korea University, TRENDS participated in an international symposium organized by the UAE Embassy in South Korea, focusing on AI and its future. A high-level panel discussion was also held in the presence of Dr. Kim Dong-won, President of Korea University, discussing the prospects for future collaboration between the center and the university. Dr. Kim was honored with the TRENDS Research Medal in recognition of his efforts and support for opening the TRENDS office in Seoul.

   

The Asian Tour Continues

Following its visit to South Korea, TRENDS will continue its Asian tour with stops in Japan and Indonesia. The center will hold its 4th annual international conference and participate in research meetings and events with academics and researchers in both countries.
