As part of its research tour to the UK, a TRENDS Research & Advisory delegation went on an educational tour of the UK Parliament, exploring this historic establishment and its longstanding parliamentary traditions and values. The visit followed a high-level symposium and a dialogue session held at the UK Parliament, attended by an elite group of officials and researchers.

During the tour, the TRENDS delegation met with several MPs and learned about the Parliament’s history and evolution. They also received a briefing on the roles and functions of the House of Commons and the House of Lords in shaping policies and decision-making processes in the UK.

The tour included participating in a general parliamentary session, with participation from the government, the ruling party, and the opposition. This enabled the delegation to closely observe the mechanisms of political debate and democratic dialogue within Parliament.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory and head of the visiting delegation, described the visit to the UK Parliament as a unique and enriching experience. He said it allowed the delegation to understand better the democratic values underpinning this prestigious institution and how parliamentary traditions contribute to fostering constructive dialogue among diverse parties.

Dr. Al-Ali emphasized that TRENDS believes in learning from global experiences and drawing inspiration from best practices to advance academic research and explore new frontiers.

He added that the symposium and dialogue session organized by TRENDS at the UK Parliament were significant milestones. They served as platforms for exchanging ideas and paved the way for new opportunities for collaboration between researchers and international institutions.

The delegation concluded its tour by underscoring the importance of enhancing research cooperation between TRENDS and global institutions. They also praised the rich legacy of dialogue and the high level of transparency they observed during the visit.
