Dr. Nazif Bozkurt is an independent researcher and a defense and security analyst based in Ankara, Türkiye. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Relations and Publicity from Ankara University. His research interests include Eastern Mediterranean geopolitics, maritime security, strategy, strategic communication, public affairs, and public diplomacy. His most recent book, titled “Doğu Akdeniz Jeopolitiğinde Türkiye ve Yunanistan (Türkiye and Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean Geopolitics)”, was published in Istanbul in 2024. Previously, Dr. Bozkurt served in the Turkish Navy for twenty-seven years, retiring as a Navy Captain in 2024. Throughout his career, he held a range of operational and staff roles, including head of various combat branches/divisions on Gabya class frigates, Chief of Public Affairs for the Navy, Naval Attaché in Washington, D.C., Head of the Strategy Branch at the Defense Planning and Project Management Department of the Turkish Navy Headquarters, and Chief of Staff at the NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence (MARSEC COE). Besides his national merits, he was awarded two NATO medals, and entitled to all due honors, privileges, and courtesies as a Naval Attaché to the U.S.A. during his service.
