05 May 2025

A panel discussion organized by TRENDS Research & Advisory at its pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025 emphasized the importance of striking a balance between technological innovation and digital protection amid the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).

The session was held as part of the launch and discussion of the newly released TRENDS publication “AI and Cybersecurity: Balancing Innovation and Security in the Digital Age”, authored by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cyber Security Council.

The discussion highlighted both the challenges and opportunities AI presents in the field of cybersecurity, with a focus on the dynamic interaction between AI tools and digital defense mechanisms. Attended by experts, officials, and intellectuals, the session addressed key themes such as AI-powered cyberattacks, the importance of ethical and regulatory frameworks, and the role of predictive analytics in preventing future threats.

Following the panel discussion, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti signed copies of his book, published by TRENDS, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, who praised the scientific efforts that align with the demands of the digital age and support cybersecurity infrastructure. The book “AI and Cybersecurity: Balancing Innovation and Security in the Digital Age” offers a comprehensive academic exploration of the growing role of artificial intelligence in addressing escalating cyber threats in an increasingly interconnected digital world. It examines how AI technologies, such as machine learning, deep learning, and big data analytics, have become essential tools in advancing cybersecurity strategies. These technologies enable early threat detection, suspicious behavior analysis, and proactive digital security solutions.

At the same time, the author does not overlook the challenges posed by this technological advancement, such as cyberattacks that employ AI tools, risks related to algorithmic bias, breaches of data privacy, and the legal complexities that have yet to keep pace with emerging technologies.

The book stands out for its comprehensive methodology, combining academic analysis with applied models by examining real-world case studies from various environments. It also provides practical recommendations for policymakers, decision-makers, and practitioners in both the public and private sectors. The book emphasizes the urgent need for ethical and regulatory frameworks to govern the use of AI in sensitive domains like cybersecurity, without stifling innovation or compromising efficiency.

This publication serves as a key reference for those interested in the future of digital security and a guide for institutions aiming to harness AI safely and effectively, enhancing system resilience and laying the groundwork for a more secure and sustainable digital society.

Meanwhile, the TRENDS’ pavilion at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair continued to attract visitors for the ninth consecutive day, standing out with a wide array of scientific publications, including original and translated books, contemporary research studies, as well as interactive tools and technologies aligned with the digital transformation in publishing and research.

Visitors praised TRENDS’ vision in nurturing and supporting young researchers by providing scientific platforms that empower them to share their perspectives and intellectual contributions, reinforcing the center’s role as an innovative knowledge hub that advances scientific research and raises awareness on future-related issues.
