TRENDS Study Explains Radical Transformations in 2025 Global Landscape

02 Jan 2025

A new TRENDS Research & Advisory research study has revealed anticipated radical transformations in the global landscape in 2025, where geopolitical crises, economic shifts, and technological changes converge to shape a new reality.

The Strategic Studies Division at TRENDS study suggests that former President Donald Trump’s return to the White House will bring about fundamental changes in US foreign policy, including reshaping relations with Russia and China. It is expected that Trump will seek to negotiate a “land for peace” deal in Ukraine while pursuing a dual approach toward China, combining additional tariffs and efforts to negotiate a significant deal.

The study notes a shift toward a multipolar world order with the rise of emerging powers such as China, India, and Russia. The growing competition among these powers would lead to a redistribution of power and influence at the political, economic, and security levels.

The study predicts significant challenges for traditional Western alliances, such as NATO, while newer alliances, like the BRICS group, are expected to expand in scope and influence.

According to the study, the Middle East faces historical challenges as all types of conflict engulf it. Regional and international powers continue intervening in the region’s affairs, further complicating the situation.

The study explains that Europe is witnessing a rise in the influence of populist and far-right parties, raising concerns about the future of European integration. The continent also faces significant economic and security challenges as it strives to strengthen its strategic autonomy.

The study expects tensions to escalate in the Asia-Pacific region due to Trump’s unpredictable policies, which may exacerbate conflicts with China. It also expects Africa to play a key role in global transformations but faces significant challenges, such as internal conflicts, food insecurity, and climate change.

On global health, the study emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in addressing health crises and the development of a worldwide treaty to deal with pandemics.

The study says technological developments, such as AI and quantum computing, are expected to impact global security and politics significantly. It also underlines the importance of the COP30 summit in Brazil, which will be a critical opportunity to strengthen international efforts against climate change.

Additionally, the study argues that international law faces growing challenges in enforcing the rule of law and managing complex legal conflicts.

In conclusion, the study predicts that 2025 will be a decisive year in defining the shape of the future as countries face complex tests related to security, defense, the economy, and climate change.
