A study published by TRENDS Research & Advisory affirmed that the historic visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates from May 13-16, 2025, represented a strategic shift in Gulf–U.S. relations. It strongly boosted the strategic partnership between the two sides in confronting escalating regional and international challenges.

The study — An Analytical Reading of the Implications and Outcomes of President Trump’s Gulf Visit — prepared by the TRENDS Research Department, analyzed the visit’s economic, political, and strategic dimensions. It pointed out that the visit included in-depth discussions on vital issues for both sides, including strengthening Gulf–U.S. economic partnership, coordinating energy policies, the future of U.S.–Iran nuclear negotiations, and signing major defense deals. Pressing regional issues were also discussed, such as the Gaza war, the Syrian file, the Abraham Accords, and the implications of the Ukraine war on the region.

The study highlighted the massive economic deals announced during the visit, emphasizing that they reflect the depth of Gulf–U.S. economic ties and confirm the ambitious developmental aspirations of Gulf countries in technology, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.
