Dr. Amany Fouad holds a PhD in Languages and is a former Lecturer at Ain Shams University in the Faculty of Languages, Cairo, Egypt (2002-2011). Currently, she is an Associate Researcher and PhD candidate at the University of Quebec in Montreal, within the Faculty of Human Sciences and the Department of Religious Sciences. She has been awarded the prestigious Doctoral Award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and is a member of the Institute of Post-Arab Spring Studies and PLURIEL-France.
Dr. Amany is a translator and an accomplished author of several articles and book reviews, and a co-author of books. She has directed graduation research and co-directed Master’s theses. Her current research focuses on the construction of otherness, analyzing the discourse of contemporary Islamic fundamentalist movements, their theorists, dogmatic foundations, and socio-political impacts as well as stereotypes related to Islamist radicalism/the West and vice-versa.
