Dr. Basil Basheer

Dr. Basil Bashir is a Senior Researcher at the TRENDS Research & Advisory and a Specialist on Political Islam Studies. His research interests include strategies, socio-political phenomena, religious movements, and security studies. He has a Ph.D. in International Media and a Masters in Sociology from Keele University, UK. He worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts, Baghdad University, for about 20 years. He played an important role in establishing the Media Department at the University of Aden, Yemen, and has worked for many research centers. Dr. Bashir has written numerous research papers in mass communication and political sociology. He continues to be a journalist and a writer on political, social, and human development.
