The International Training Institute organizes the course in coordination with the UAE Media Council
TRENDS Research & Advisory, through its International Training Institute, organized a specialized training course — Methodology for Monitoring and Summarizing Valuable and Sensitive Books — for the UAE Media Council, in collaboration with the TRENDS office in Dubai. The course was held from July 22 to 23, 2025, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai.
This specialized course aimed to develop participants’ skills in reading, analyzing, and summarizing books that cover complex intellectual and knowledge-based subjects. It adopted a scientific and practical methodology that focused on tools for comprehension and analysis, effective summarization techniques, and the ability to distinguish between core and secondary information. The goal was to enable participants to produce knowledge-based summaries suitable for publication or academic presentation, while preserving the essence of the text and the author’s original intent.
The course was delivered by Dr. Yousri Al-Ezbawi, an expert at TRENDS Research & Advisory, who presented practical models and exercises on engaging with complex intellectual texts. He shared his expertise in analyzing and deconstructing knowledge discourse and trained participants on preparing accurate summaries that maintain deep meaning and enrich intellectual and media content.
In a statement, Sultan Al-Rubaie, Head of the TRENDS International Training Institute, emphasized that this course reflects TRENDS’ ongoing commitment to empowering national talents with advanced knowledge and media skills, and to equipping the media sector with the tools needed to engage with complex intellectual content.
“Engaging with valuable and sensitive books requires precise analytical tools and clear methodologies that help readers grasp the intellectual depth of texts and produce summaries that retain the essence of the message, thereby facilitating effective and thoughtful knowledge transfer,” he said.
Al-Rubaie added that the course was designed to equip participants with a comprehensive set of skills, from selecting credible sources and critically engaging with texts, to analyzing the structural knowledge of content and preparing professional summaries suitable for publication or academic discourse. He stressed that the course combined theoretical and practical elements, and was grounded in the best international practices followed by think tanks and policy-making institutions.
Al-Rubaie concluded that the TRENDS Institute will continue to offer high-level training programs to enhance the skills of researchers, media professionals, and those interested in intellectual pursuits. This aligns with the UAE’s vision of building an advanced knowledge society based on research output, critical thinking, and effective knowledge communication.
