TRENDS Research & Advisory hosted H.E. Ambassador Essam Ashour, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Arab Emirates, in a panel discussion at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The discussion focused on research and the role of research institutions and think tanks in addressing challenges, supporting policymaking, and disseminating knowledge.

Ambassador Essam Ashour emphasized the growing importance of scientific research and think tanks in strengthening bilateral cooperation and formulating shared strategic visions to address regional and international challenges. He stated that research centers play a significant role by actively contributing to policymaking and decision-making in a world experiencing rapid change and complex challenges. He noted that these centers provide decision-makers with strategic insights, plans, and forward-looking ideas to anticipate challenges and opportunities. He also expressed his wishes for TRENDS Research & Advisory to achieve further progress and success, stressing his aspiration for productive and meaningful cooperation at the embassy level. In addition, he highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration with research centers and authorities in Egypt, in a manner that serves common interests and supports academic research and decision-making.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, welcomed the Egyptian Ambassador and briefed him on TRENDS’ efforts, research activities, specialized programs, and regional and international partnerships. He stressed TRENDS’ keenness to enhance its presence at the regional and global levels. Dr. Al-Ali pointed out TRENDS’ participation in the current session of the Cairo International Book Fair, noting that this participation falls within the framework of promoting Arab knowledge exchange, introducing TRENDS’ research publications, and consolidating the role of think tanks in spreading scientific culture and building awareness of contemporary strategic issues.

The panel discussion featured an extensive exchange of views on ways to develop research and intellectual partnerships between institutions in the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, as well as the role of think tanks in supporting comprehensive strategic alliances between the two countries across the political, economic, cultural, and security fields.
