TRENDS Research and Advisory has revealed the new formation of its Scientific and Academic Council for 2024-2025. This formation aligns with the Center’s Bronze Jubilee and is a translation of the aspirations and objectives of its global strategic plan. The goal is to enhance the Center’s global role as an independent research institution that contributes to advancing scientific research in support of sustainable development issues, as well as maximizing the benefits of TRENDS’ research and knowledge outputs.
The reshaping of the Scientific and Academic Council, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, alongside 12 members and a rapporteur, reflects TRENDS’ commitment to leveraging scientific, academic and research expertise. The Council will hold its first meeting on September 3rd to discuss its strategic plan for 2024-2025.
Enhancing Research Methodologies
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory and Chairman of the Scientific and Academic Council, stated that the newly formed Council supports TRENDS’ mission to build bridges of scientific, research, knowledge and academic communication among academics, specialists and experts from around the world. The aim is to exchange ideas and perspectives and improve the quality of research outputs while encouraging diversity in creative thinking.
Al-Ali mentioned that the Council will play a pivotal role in guiding the Center’s strategies, enhancing research, analysis and innovation methodologies, and opening new horizons for constructive strategic partnerships. This will enable the Center to benefit from diverse experiences and expertise that support its global research and knowledge mission.
The CEO of TRENDS emphasized that the new Scientific and Academic Council includes distinguished scientific and academic figures who will provide advice and formulate constructive plans and strategies to improve the quality of research and knowledge outputs. He added that the Council will also contribute to supporting the “Foreseeing the Future through Knowledge” strategy, empowering young researchers, and enhancing the Center’s active presence and participation in international platforms and forums.
Purposeful Research Output
Members of the Scientific and Academic Council for 2024-2025 expressed their appreciation to TRENDS for selecting them as part of the new formation. They affirmed that the Center has become a qualitative addition to the regional and international research system, providing strong and purposeful research and scientific output.
They noted that the new Council will work diligently to provide all forms of scientific, research and knowledge support that contribute to achieving TRENDS’ global objectives, reinforcing its mission, and solidifying its position among the top and most important research institutions and think tanks worldwide. The Council will also support the consulting, training and continuous development system provided by the Center, in addition to supporting various research and scientific sectors to achieve their strategic visions and goals.
Scientific and Academic Council
The newly formed TRENDS Scientific and Academic Council includes Dr. Sultan Al-Rumaithi, CEO of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and Centre in Solo, Indonesia; Dr. Khadija Farhan Al Humaidi, Director of Student Affairs at Rabdan Academy; Professor Radwan El-Sayed, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research College at Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities; Dr. Ahmed Khamis Khalil, Professor of Applied Media at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi; Dr. Ebtesam Al Mazrouei, Chairperson of AI for Good Impact Initiative of the UN; and Dr. Fattouh Haikal, Scientific Research Advisor at TRENDS.
Other members include Professor Mark Tessler, Co-founder and Co-Principal Investigator of the Arab Barometer; Bilal Saab, Head of the US-Middle East Practice and Advisor to the Scientific and Academic Council at TRENDS; Prof. Yossi Mekelberg, Professor of International Relations and Senior Consulting at Chatham House UK, and Professor International Relations at Regent’s University; Dr. Serhat Suha Çubukçoğlu, Senior researcher in Strategic Studies at TRENDS; Stephen Scalet, Advisor to the TRENDS Global Sector; Dr. Khalid Salem Al-Yabhouni, Assistant Professor at Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities; and Maryam Al-Ketbi, the Council’s rapporteur and Deputy Head of Public Relations and Media at TRENDS.
