TRENDS Research & Advisory hosted Mr. Shu Nakagawa, Deputy Ambassador of Japan to the UAE, for a panel discussion on enhancing research cooperation between Japan and the UAE, particularly in artificial intelligence, technological innovation, and youth empowerment.
The session took place during his visit to TRENDS’ headquarters in Abu Dhabi, where participants discussed strengthening research partnerships with Japanese research centers. Ambassador Nakagawa was also briefed on TRENDS’ efforts to support applied research and youth capacity-building. Several researchers attended the session and discussed prospects for cooperation in emerging technological fields with the guest.
During the session, Ambassador Nakagawa emphasized the importance of cooperation in academic fields, explaining that Japan appreciates the UAE’s role as a strategic partner in innovation and technology. He added that he views TRENDS as a pioneering model for empowering youth and promoting research, expressing his aspiration for concrete partnerships, particularly in artificial intelligence and its future applications.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, the CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, welcomed Ambassador Shu Nakagawa, noting that the panel discussion with the Japanese Deputy Ambassador highlights the importance of TRENDS in building knowledge connections with global research centers.
He also explained that youth played an important role in leading innovation. The dialogue led to supporting young talent in advanced technological fields. TRENDS researchers presented their insights and research in several fields, including artificial intelligence and data analytics.
The two sides discussed joint initiatives, such as researcher exchanges between Japanese centers and TRENDS, and joint workshops on global technological challenges. The discussion concluded with both sides confirming their commitment to continuing the dialogue to transform ideas into practical partnerships.
