TRENDS Research and Advisory organized a symposium in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. It was attended by H.E. Dr. Liang Yanshun, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Communist Party Secretary of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, H.E. Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, with an audience of researchers and media professionals.
Experts and academics participating in the forum affirmed that China stands on the right side of history, seeking self-development and contributing to global peace and development.
They added that China’s systematic reform inspires confidence in achieving sustainable development needed by the world. It encourages all developing countries in general and the Arab world in particular, demonstrating that any country can achieve development.
A shared Chinese-Gulf desire to develop bilateral relations
The symposium began with welcoming remarks by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, who noted that this important event is TRENDS’ second instance of cooperation with friends in the People’s Republic of China in just two months, reflecting the center’s keenness to enhance research and intellectual cooperation with friends in China. “We are working hard to push this cooperation towards broader horizons in the future, serving our research goals of enhancing cooperation and friendship between peoples and promoting issues of global security, peace, and prosperity,” he added.
He explained that China’s development experience is a leading model for the world in economic development, given the results it has achieved on the ground.
As for the Gulf-Chinese relations, Dr. Al-Ali pointed out a noticeable and significant growth in these relations on all fronts, with a mutual desire to develop and push them to broader horizons, as China has become the largest trading partner for Gulf countries.
The symposium then proceeded with a speech by H.E. Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, who stated that China is moving forward successfully with comprehensive development for the Chinese people.
He said: “We are ready to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Arab countries in several areas, including developmental strategies. We are confident that TRENDS Research and Advisory will play a significant role in this respect. There are already partnerships between Beijing and Arab countries. We thank TRENDS for organizing this symposium and providing us with this opportunity.”
