Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, has affirmed that Commemoration Day, observed annually on November 30, is a significant national event that goes beyond mere commemoration to serve as an occasion to renew allegiance to the homeland and its wise leadership. It is, he said, an investment in strengthening national identity and collective memory.

Dr. Al-Ali explained that this day embodies the highest meanings of gratitude and reverence for the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes who gave their lives in defense of the UAE’s progress and sovereignty. Honoring them reflects deep loyalty and appreciation, and reinforces the strong bond that unites the leadership, the people, and the nation, he added.

He noted that this occasion places an intellectual and national duty upon research institutions and think tanks: a duty to study how values such as sacrifice, loyalty, and belonging strengthen national resilience and society’s ability to confront challenges. He emphasized that these values constitute a vital social and strategic asset that must be preserved and developed to support comprehensive development across the civil, military, and humanitarian fields.

Dr. Al-Ali further underscored that devotion, dedication, and loyalty are integral components of the Emirati identity, established by the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless his soul. The martyrs represent the highest embodiment of heroism and devotion to the nation, he said.

He explained that Commemoration Day serves as a practical way to educate new generations about the values of sacrifice and belonging. The stories of the martyrs, he remarked, are sources of inspiration that instill the spirit of leadership, loyalty, and dedication in today’s young people, particularly amid rapid digital transformations and the challenges of the future.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali concluded by affirming that celebrating the Commemoration Day is a renewal of the pledge of allegiance to the homeland, a reaffirmation of national unity. Honoring the martyrs is a celebration of the strength of Emirati identity and the determination of its loyal people.
