TRENDS Research & Advisory has successfully concluded its active participation in the World Governments Summit 2025, held in Dubai from February 10 to 13 under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.”
TRENDS’ participation was marked by strong presence in key sessions, alongside a series of bilateral meetings and knowledge-driven discussions aimed at promoting the role of research in governance and future foresight.

Rich dialogues
The TRENDS delegation, led by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, held high-level meetings with distinguished officials and experts to explore avenues for research collaboration.
The delegation engaged in an intellectual dialogue with H.E. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit Organization, and H.E. Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to His Highness the UAE President. The discussion centered on the role of scientific research in shaping the future and empowering younger generations.

As a contributing member of the World Governments Summit, TRENDS engaged in a dialogue with H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, highlighting the link between scientific research and technological advancement in fostering a deeper understanding of global developments and skill building.

Similarly, TRENDS exchanged insights with H.E. Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, on the role of scientific research in shaping the future.
During the summit, the delegation met with H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office, and H.E. Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Director General of the National Media Office, to discuss the integration of scientific research and media in supporting governance and sustainability.

The delegation also met with H.E. Jassim Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, discussing the role of think tanks in empowering youth and promoting knowledge.
Furthermore, the delegation discussed with H.E. Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, the importance of think tanks in future foresight.

It also met with H.E. Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States, discussing the important role of think tanks in international relations and highlighting the upcoming official launch of the TRENDS office in Washington, D.C.
The TRENDS delegation attended several key sessions at the World Governments Summit and met with various officials, emphasizing the role of scientific research in future foresight and governance.

Youth Empowerment
TRENDS’ participation in the summit also featured a dialogue session with H.E. Shamma bint Sohail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development, highlighting the role of scientific research in youth empowerment and their contribution to sustainable development.
In another session, the delegation met with H.E. Saud Abdulaziz Karmustaji, Head of Operations Management of the UAE Astronaut Programme, Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, discussing the impact of research on advancing the space sector.

Scientific Research
In alignment with TRENDS’ focus on supporting economic policy and international relations, the delegation met with H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and H.E. Juma Mohammed Al-Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy. The discussions emphasized the importance of research studies in shaping sustainable economic policies.

Knowledge Mission
Concluding its participation in the summit, TRENDS reaffirmed its commitment to advancing research and foresight studies that contribute to government policymaking and sustainable development. The center emphasized the importance of strategic research partnerships in shaping a more prosperous and sustainable future.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali stressed that the World Governments Summit serves as a unique platform for fostering dialogue between think tanks and global policymakers. He emphasized that scientific research is the cornerstone of future foresight and the foundation for knowledge-based, sustainable policies.

“Our participation in the summit reflects TRENDS’ commitment to promoting strategic thinking and supporting research pathways that contribute to policy development and innovative approaches to addressing future challenges,” Dr. Al-Ali added.
He concluded by reaffirming that TRENDS will continue its efforts to strengthen the role of scientific research in sustainable development and decision-making through international partnerships and collaborations with government and private sector institutions.

The World Governments Summit 2025 brought together thought leaders, global experts, and policymakers from around the world to enhance international cooperation, develop future governance models, and find effective solutions to global challenges.
