TRENDS Research & Advisory concluded its extensive research tour in Russia by discussing several collaborative academic, research, media, and knowledge projects with five prominent Russian entities. These discussions focused on fostering partnerships, particularly in research areas that support the BRICS, launching joint training programs, offering specialized academic and research advisory services, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experts.
During its tour, TRENDS held five meetings and roundtable discussions with officials and experts from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the International Network AML/CFT Institute, the Russian State Duma, the Russian State News Agency TASS, and Russia Today.
The goal of these discussions was to build bridges of communication, engagement, and cooperation between TRENDS and Russian research, academic, and media institutions, generate insights on contemporary global issues, develop foresight on future trends, promote think tank diplomacy in knowledge dissemination, and support sustainable development efforts globally.
Strengthening Collaborative Ties
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, noted that the tour in Russia featured a series of constructive research meetings, academic discussions, and comprehensive sessions that encourage creativity, innovation, and advancement in various research fields. He added that the tour reinforced cooperative ties with TRENDS’ strategic partners in Russia, including universities, think tanks, and media outlets.
He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue and exchange of ideas and insights with TRENDS’ strategic partners in Russia, which fosters mutual understanding of current global and regional issues. The constructive discussions also open new horizons for research cooperation, positively impacting the quality of research outputs, such as in-depth studies and papers.
Joint Publishing and Training
Dr. Al-Ali noted that the five meetings and roundtable discussions explored avenues for collaboration and joint research projects with Russian academic, research, and media institutions. This includes joint publishing, training, and media advisory services, as well as cooperation in advanced technology research, artificial intelligence, foresight studies, and opinion polling. He highlighted TRENDS’ commitment to building bridges of communication and interaction with academic and research communities worldwide, given their critical role in advancing global research and supporting future foresight.
Global Knowledge Vision
The Russian academic, research, and media institutions commended TRENDS Research & Advisory’s global knowledge vision and its openness to diverse avenues of collaboration and partnership with Russian think tanks and academic institutions. They pointed out that the establishment of a TRENDS office in Moscow would greatly strengthen collaboration and activate existing partnerships with the Russian research and academic community.
Anticipating Future Crises
They further stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration among academic institutions, media outlets, and think tanks in anticipating future events and crises, formulating plans, analyzing contemporary global issues, and finding solutions to overcome them. This can be achieved through launching joint research projects, organizing workshops, meetings, symposia, and dialogue sessions, all of which contribute to experience exchange, idea generation, and solutions for escalating global crises.
TRENDS Research Medal
In a related context, TRENDS awarded the TRENDS Research Medal to several academics, experts, researchers, and specialists from Russian research, intellectual, and media institutions in recognition of their valuable contributions to advancing scientific and media research and promoting knowledge. Among the awardees were Alexey Komissarov, President of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, and Mikhail Kalmykov, Deputy Director General of TASS, Head of TASS Analytical Center.
