With a view to disseminating knowledge and enhancing cooperation in the fields of scientific research, a remote meeting was held between TRENDS Research and Advisory and the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) at the University of Tokyo as part of the two sides’ keenness to enhance knowledge making through rigorous research and advisory services. Mr. Awadh Al-Breiki, Head of TRENDS Global Sector, several researchers, and Professor Satoshi Ikeuchi, a prominent researcher and professor at the Department of Religion and Global Security at the University of Tokyo and Director of RCAST, participated in the meeting, which was also attended by several experts. The meeting began with an overview by Mr. Awadh Al-Breiki of TRENDS’ mission and goals. He emphasized the Center’s commitment to enhancing knowledge making through rigorous research and advisory services. He also explained that TRENDS focuses on 14 research areas and is dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between cultures and religions. This was followed by a presentation by Professor Ikeuchi on RCAST and its role in promoting dialogue and research cooperation to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence and achieve prosperity and peace. The two sides discussed future ways of cooperation and their interest in implementing joint research projects, stressing the need to benefit from the transformative potential of emerging technologies, such as AI and biotechnology, in disseminating and enhancing knowledge. TRENDS and RCAST agreed to explore the possibility of signing a joint agreement to enhance cooperation between them, including organizing joint conferences, workshops and symposiums that bring together prominent researchers and international experts to participate in multidisciplinary panel discussions on topical issues. It is noteworthy that TRENDS Research and Advisory focuses on multidisciplinary research and advisory in several fields, in addition to consultations, opinion polls and training. On the other hand, RCAST focuses on issues of innovation and development in science and technology.
