TRENDS Research & Advisory has actively participated in the World Future Energy Summit, hosted by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), as part of the broader World Future Summit at the ADNEC Center in Abu Dhabi.
During the session, Dr. Stephen Skalt, an economist at TRENDS, delivered a presentation titled “Leaving No One Behind: Renewable Energy and Humanitarian Work,” emphasizing the critical role of integrating renewable energy into humanitarian endeavors, particularly in developing nations and crisis-affected regions.
Dr. Skalt highlighted, “Renewable energy serves as a potent tool for advancing sustainable development and enhancing the well-being of millions, especially amidst escalating global humanitarian challenges like food insecurity, water scarcity, environmental degradation, and more frequent and intense heatwaves”.
He further remarked, “By providing renewable energy access to energy-deprived populations in developing countries, significant strides can be made in elevating living standards, fostering economic opportunities, and improving public health and education”.
Dr. Skalt underscored the growing international momentum to prioritize renewable energy within humanitarian efforts, aligning directly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7, which aims to ensure clean, reliable, and affordable energy access for all.
In conclusion, Dr. Skalt reaffirmed TRENDS Research & Advisory’s commitment to supporting global initiatives through its research and analytical studies, aiming to promote the widespread adoption of renewable energy worldwide, thereby contributing to sustainable development and enhancing human well-being.
