Aligned with its agenda for 2024 and based on its keenness to identify global research developments in terms of topics and methods, TRENDS Research and Advisory organized a panel discussion under the title “The Role of Scientific Research in Reading Events and Understanding Current Global Developments.”
The panel was attended by experts and researchers from TRENDS and Bilal Saab, Adviser and Head of the US-Middle East Studies Program, who recently joined the TRENDS family and heads of sectors. A group of young researchers were also present.
Participants emphasized scientific research’s pivotal role in understanding international relations’ complexities and making informed decisions. They stressed the importance of scientific research in analyzing data, assessing risks, and anticipating future trends, which contributes toward developing effective strategies to deal with global challenges.
A constructive discussion was held during the panel on the various issues raised. Participants exchanged ideas to gain a better understanding of current issues and events. The discussions covered different topics, including political and economic developments in the Arab region and the world.
Participants also discussed the challenges facing countries considering rapid global transformations, the role of scientific research in supporting sustainable development efforts, and the importance of strengthening the research culture and exchanging ideas to reach a better understanding.
