Zero Government Bureaucracy
Dr. Abdullah bin Salman Al-Nuaimi kicked off the book-signing ceremonies by signing his book, “Zero Government Bureaucracy: General Characteristics, Technological Transformations, and the UAE Model”, published by TRENDS. In this book, the author analyzes the concept of “zero bureaucracy,” explaining it as an approach aimed at eliminating administrative barriers that hinder productivity and innovation, while increasing efficiency in the delivery of government services.
The book seeks to present a comprehensive analysis of bureaucracy and its various impacts on institutional performance, with a particular focus on government institutions, which are more susceptible to bureaucratic complexities due to the legislation and regulations governing their work. It also explores effective solutions that help reduce these complexities and achieve what is known as “zero bureaucracy.”
The book highlights the UAE’s experience as a pioneering model in zeroing bureaucracy through adoption of smart government and digital transformation. The UAE has successfully overcome traditional bureaucratic obstacles by developing integrated systems that rely on smart technology, which helps in accelerating processes and delivering high-quality services, and contribute to achieving well-being and enhancing the quality of life in society.
China-India Relations
Shamma Al-Qutbah, a researcher at TRENDS, signed her English-language book titled “From Rivalry to Diplomatic Engagement in the Asia pacific: Evolving Geopolitics of the China and India Relationship”. The book examines the complex and evolving relationship between China and India, two rising powers whose strategic interactions reshape the geopolitical landscape of Eurasia.
The book explains the main dimensions of this rivalry, including border disputes, economic competition, and military postures. The analysis also focuses on the recent agreement reached by the two sides, which constitutes a significant diplomatic achievement that may pave the way for de-escalation after years of increasing tensions.
The book concludes that while the agreement between India and China to resolve their border dispute provides an opportunity for constructive dialogue, lasting peace between the two countries is conditional on their ability to manage their competition carefully and build true, fruitful cooperation. Striking a balance between competition and cooperation will be crucial in shaping the future of their relationship and will have wider impacts on the international order in the years to come.
