Continuing its research tour in the United States, TRENDS Research & Advisory’s delegation visited the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) in Washington, DC. A high-level dialogue session was held, bringing together leading researchers and experts from both sides, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, and Prof. Marc Rotenberg, Executive Director of CAIDP. The session focused on the latest developments in AI regulation and its implications for global digital policy.

The discussion addressed the evolving landscape of U.S. AI policies, particularly amid growing calls for more effective oversight in response to the rapid spread of smart technologies. Both sides explored how regulatory efforts in the United States are helping shape the broader direction of global digital policy.

The dialogue also examined opportunities for future cooperation, especially in research areas related to AI governance, tech ethics, and global regulation of emerging technologies. Both parties agreed to collaborate on developing joint research papers and intellectual initiatives that serve the interests of knowledge communities, policymakers, and technology developers alike.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali noted that the dialogue aligns with TRENDS’ commitment to building impactful knowledge partnerships that deepen the understanding of the challenges and opportunities posed by emerging technologies, including most notably artificial intelligence.

For his part, Prof. Rotenberg described the dialogue with TRENDS as rich and insightful, reflecting a genuine commitment to strengthening responsible AI governance at the global level.
The two sides agreed on the need to establish balanced regulatory frameworks that ensure responsible innovation while supporting the digital environment.
