Dr. Manal Shehabi is the OIES-KFAS Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. She is also an SCR Member of St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford. An applied economist, Dr. Shehabi has expertise in economic and energy sustainability, economic analyses, and policy assessment in resource-dependent economies, focusing on the Middle East and North Africa. Her research interests include economic modeling, macro, and international economics, energy and resources, and multinational enterprises. Dr. Shehabi’s research contributed to key policy debates at national and international levels, such as the WTO, the UNFCCC, and resource-exporting states.
She has conducted capacity-building for policymakers in various countries and taught university-level economics courses. She is the author of numerous academic publications and policy reports. She co-authored Kuwait Energy Outlook 2020 and was a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate. Beyond academia, she has professional experience in consulting for multinational firms and in business public policy. A polyglot, Dr. Shehabi holds a Ph.D. in Economics, an MIA in Economics, a BA in Economics and Business, and management diplomas in international affairs, and leadership.
