Dr. Shishir Upadhyaya is an Associate Professor at the College of Security and Global Studies at the American University in the Emirates at Dubai, UAE. He is a former Indian naval officer with vast and diverse experience including positions of responsibility in the government/ national intelligence, industry and think tanks/ academia. His industry experience includes senior managerial positions at Lloyds List Intelligence in Singapore and IHS Maritime (Now S&P). Dr. Upadhyaya received his Ph.D. (IR and Security Studies) from the University of Wollongong, Australia and has previously taught at the Gujarat Maritime University and the OP Jindal Global University in India. He has published several books, papers and media articles and is a recipient of the Chief of Navy commendation medal and the Fellowship of Indo-Pacific Symposium (FIPS) awarded by the US Department of State for his work in regional security.
