Mohamed Gomaa is a strategic studies expert at TRENDS Research & Advisory. Before joining TRENDS, he headed the Extremism and Terrorism Studies Unit at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR). He held several research positions at Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS) in Cairo, Egypt, including expert in the Arab and Regional Studies Unit, editor-in-chief of the “Israeli Affairs” magazine, and supervisor of the “Strategic Insights” section of the “International Politics” magazine. He also worked at the Egyptian Center for Security Studies (ECSS) as a regional security advisor and head of the Terrorism Studies Unit. Gomaa has published numerous studies and research papers, including the “Terrorism in 2022” report by the ECSSR, Hamas’ Organizational Structure and Decision Making (ECSS, 2014), a strategic booklet titled “Hamas After the Fall of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt” by the ACPSS in March 2014, and a study titled “The Jihadi Brotherhood: Intellectual and Operational Aspects” in May 2018.
