As part of its Asian tour that includes China, South Korea, Japan and Singapore and that aims to strengthen its research partnerships and expand its outreach, TRENDS Research and Advisory will participate with a special pavilion in the Beijing International Book Fair 2024, which will start on June 19, 2024 and last for 5 days at the China National Convention Center, Beijing, where the Center will display dozens of its various research publications.


On the sidelines of the Book Fair, TRENDS will launch its sixth global office in Beijing. The office will aim to enhance communication between think tanks at the regional and international levels. TRENDS China office will be one of several branch offices that support the Center’s head office in Abu Dhabi as part of a plan aimed at launching ten offices globally to support the Center’s goals as a knowledge bridge linking peoples and countries of the world.

As the new office’s first activity, TRENDS will launch the Chinese version of the Muslim Brotherhood’s international influence index, which is the first and only index of its kind in the world that measures, with quantitative and qualitative scientific methods, the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence at the international level.


Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, said that TRENDS’ Chinese tour and participation in the Beijing International Book Fair stem from the Center’s keenness to be present in global cultural forums, particularly Beijing with its new and diverse audience. He added that with more than 2600 exhibitors from 100 countries annually, the Book Fair is one of the most important international cultural events and constitutes an important platform for meeting intellectuals, publishers and writers. The Center’s participation provides a unique opportunity to communicate with publishers, enhance the book and publishing industry and increase the visibility of TRENDS’ research output at the international level. He underlined the importance of book fairs in spreading culture, advancing knowledge and foreseeing the future.

Dr. Al-Ali said that TRENDS’ keenness to be present at the Beijing International Book Fair and other global forums stems from the Center’s vision and global orientation, namely to be open to various cultural, intellectual and research institutions both regionally and globally, and to enhance aspects of cooperation and partnership with them in areas that serve scientific research, contribute to spreading future-making knowledge, confront deviant thought and hatred, and spread the values ​​of goodness, peace, coexistence and tolerance. He stated that the Center’s participation in the Book Fair will not stop at showcasing publications, as it will include organizing events and panel discussions on various current global issues which will be attended by distinguished thinkers, researchers and media professionals.

Dr. Al-Ali added that the Chinese leg of the research tour will witness the inauguration of TRENDS’ Beijing virtual office and the launch of the Brotherhood Influence Index in Chinese, after having launched the Arabic version at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair, the English version in Canada, and the French version in Paris.

Dr. Al-Ali added that the Chinese leg of the research tour will witness dialogues with China’s most important research and university centers with the aim of building cooperative relationships and partnerships that contribute to opening new research horizons, in addition to delivering TRENDS’ research output to a new audience that shows a great interest in the region’s issues and building relationships with its countries.


Rawda Al Marzouqi, Director of Distribution and Exhibitions Department at TRENDS, said that participation in the Beijing International Book Fair will include a wide list of high-quality publications covering a wide range of regional and global issues. She explained that the Center’s publications are characterized by credibility and objectivity, and have become a reliable reference for researchers, scholars and academics in the region and the world.

Al Marzouqi indicated that AI tools, including robots and research telegram, will be present in the Center’s pavilion to provide information about TRENDS, in addition to explaining and answering visitors’ questions.


Khaled Al-Fazari, Deputy Director of TRENDS’ Media Communications Office, said that the Center’s China research tour and its participation in the Beijing International Book Fair will receive live and diverse media coverage, as the results and news of the tour and the participation will be posted on TRENDS’ social media platforms, as well as through the news and videos handled by a specialized work team.

He pointed out that all preparations have been completed to highlight participation in this important global cultural and knowledge event based on the latest media techniques.
