As Part of the Trends Global Dialogue Series Trends hosts the Ambassador of Tajikistan on the role of scientific research in supporting water issues

As part of the Trends Global Dialogue series, Trends Research and Advisory hosted His Excellency Bahodur Sharifi Mahmudzoda, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Arab Emirates, at Trends’ Ramadan Majlis in a dialogue on research cooperation and its role in serving global issues, with emphasis on water issues. The session, in which a number of Trends researchers participated, focused on the importance of scientific research in foreseeing the future, in addition to discussing ways of cooperation between Trends and think tanks in Tajikistan. HE The Ambassador invited Trends to participate in The Third High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028. He indicated that the conference will be held from June 10 – 13, 2024 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and hosted by the Tajik government in cooperation with the United Nations as part of the Dushanbe Water Process. He explained that the conference shall further unite the world around water issues, support the implementation of the voluntary commitments in the Water Action Plan, and inspire new commitments to build partnerships and accelerate action to achieve the 2030 water-related Sustainable Development Goals. The Ambassador of Tajikistan expressed his appreciation for Trends’ research efforts and qualitative publications, and looked forward to Trends’ contribution to this conference. Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of Trends Research and Advisory, welcomed this cooperation, and stressed that water issues are at the forefront of Trends concerns. He said that water is an influential global issue that needs to be explored in depth. He stressed the keenness of Trends to strengthen research cooperation with Tajik think tanks, which falls in line with the Trends slogan of foreseeing the future with knowledge. This session reflects Trends’ interest in building effective research and scientific partnerships with various institutions in the region and beyond to promote the culture of scientific research. Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of Trends Research and Advisory, presented His Excellency the Ambassador of Tajikistan with a collection of the Center’s books and publications.
