In the Presence of Egypt’s Grand Mufti, TRENDS and Salam Center for Countering Extremism Studies Sign a Cooperation Agreement in Specialized Research and Studies

With the participation of His Eminence Dr. Nazir Ayad, Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, TRENDS Research & Advisory signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Salam Center for Extremism Studies and Combating Islamophobia. The agreement aims to strengthen research collaboration and unite efforts to combat extremism through specialized studies.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, and Dr. Ibrahim Negm, Senior Advisor to Egypt’s Grand Mufti, President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, and President of the Salam Center for Extremism Studies and Combating Islamophobia, in the presence of senior officials from both sides. It seeks to intensify joint research efforts to confront extremist discourse and correct misconceptions promoted by certain groups and movements.

 

The agreement also establishes the framework for conducting joint research projects and organizing a series of international events and conferences aimed at correcting false narratives and promoting a culture of tolerance and coexistence.

A Defense Against Intellectual Attacks

Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al-Ali emphasized the significance of this constructive cooperation in addressing current challenges related to intellectual extremism and terrorism. He highlighted that collaboration and understanding between research institutions form a defensive barrier against intellectual threats that undermine the stability of nations and societies.

Al-Ali noted that TRENDS, leveraging its accumulated expertise, seeks to offer in-depth analytical studies to enhance intellectual security and refute ideologies that distort religion for political purposes. He added that the center strives to foster a culture of tolerance and coexistence while promoting purposeful knowledge.

Correcting Misconceptions

The TRENDS CEO stated that collaboration with the Salam Center for Extremism Studies and Combating Islamophobia underscores the importance of interaction between research institutions to promote moderate discourse and correct false narratives. This partnership aims to enhance intellectual security and peaceful coexistence among diverse societal groups by organizing scientific seminars, workshops, and joint research studies while fostering the exchange of expertise and knowledge on countering extremist ideologies.

Practical and Effective Solutions

He noted that both parties will work together to provide practical and effective solutions to counter extremist ideologies through in-depth analytical research and studies.

He highlighted that collaboration with TRENDS represents a significant step in strengthening academic and research partnerships, particularly in the intellectual fight against extremism.
