Trends Research and Advisory discussed ways to enhance cooperation between public and private sectors (FAPPP) in various fields of research and development with the “Federation of Arab States for Better Partnerships between the Public and private Sectors.” The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed El Kalawy, President of the Arab Federation for Public-Private Partnerships, and his deputy Dr. Amr Wael, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of Trends. A number of experts and professionals attended the audience. The discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities of public-private partnership in the field of sustainable development. The best international practices in the field were discussed. The two sides stressed that partnership between the public and private sectors is necessary for implementing any development plans. Dr. Ahmed El Kalawy delivered a presentation on the nature of the Federation’s work, the challenges and opportunities of public-private partnership in the field of sustainable development, and the role of the Federation in promoting partnership between the two sectors. Dr. Mohamed Al-Ali stressed the significance of public-private partnership to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and the role of the private sector in financing sustainable development projects. He praised the Federation effort, and stressed the significant role of scientific research and think tanks in promoting the partnership between public and private sectors. Dr. Al-Ali explained that public-private partnership plays three roles in supporting sustainable growth; namely, enhancing the capabilities of domestic and foreign investment in environmentally friendly economic sectors, and boosting financial returns and government revenues, which enables it to increase public spending and develop efficiency. This effective partnership accelerates the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy that guides the employment of scarce economic resources from all players in the local market, including the public and private sectors. The two sides agreed to continue communication and open research cooperation to conclude a strategic partnership between Trends Research and Advisory and the (FAPPP).  They agreed to organize joint seminars on the role of partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable development goals. Dr. El Kalawy presented Dr. Muhammad Al-Ali with the FAPPP’s founding membership and the two officials exchanged their publications.
