As part of its participation as an official knowledge partner in the 3rd edition of the Global Media Congress, TRENDS Research and Advisory continues its quality contributions, with a special focus on foreseeing the future of media and its transformations amid growing challenges of the digital world.
Integration Between Think Tanks and News Platforms
TRENDS Research and Advisory organized a panel discussion, titled “Integration Between Think Tanks and News Platforms: Toward Knowledge-Based Media,” at its pavilion at the Global Media Congress, which is currently taking place at ADNEC Center Abu Dhabi. The panel discussion was moderated by Warda Al-Menhali, Director of Corporate Communications Department at TRENDS, in the presence of a large number of media professionals and researchers.
Knowledge-Based Media Content
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Araimi, Chairman of the Oman Journalists Association, highlighted the urgent need of news platforms for knowledge-rich media content, underlining the vital role that think tank can play in providing such content. He explained that collaboration between the two sides can help raise public awareness of contemporary issues and deliver in-depth and comprehensive analyses of current events.
Promoting Research Outputs
Mazen Singer, Chief Strategy Officer at the Nabd platform, stressed the importance of collaboration with research centers to promote intellectual products and expand their media reach. Singer pointed out that such collaboration can help in reaching wider audience and increasing the positive impact of scientific ideas and research. He emphasized the need of media platforms for research centers and the need of the latter for media platforms to disseminate their products.
Countering Challenges
Khalifa Al-Salami, the founder and general manager of Abu Dhabi News Network, emphasized the importance of synergy between think tanks and news platforms in addressing challenges such as media disinformation and deepfakes. Al-Salami highlighted that this collaboration can enhance the credibility of media content and protect audiences from fake news and rumors.
Participants in the panel stressed the need to foster long-term strategic partnerships between think tanks and media platforms to modernize contemporary media, improve its quality, and elevate societal awareness. They also underscored the importance of leveraging digital technology to develop new tools for verifying information and combating media disinformation.
At the conclusion of the panel, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, honored the session speakers with commemorative shields and certificates of appreciation. Additionally, they were awarded the TRENDS Media Medal.
Strategic Partnerships
As part of its participation in the Global Media Congress, TRENDS signed four strategic agreements with international and regional media organizations with the aim of expanding cooperation in launching joint training programs, conducting specialized field and media studies, and fostering knowledge exchange by leveraging expertise in strategic research.
The agreements included a cooperation agreement with Russia Today to develop research and media solutions addressing contemporary crises; a memorandum of understanding with the London-based Al-Arab newspaper to promote scientific collaboration and implement joint research and media projects; a cooperation agreement with Jordanian Al-Ra’i newspaper to enhance cooperation in media research, training, and knowledge sharing; and a cooperation agreement with the news platform Erem News to strengthen research and media collaboration, execute joint projects, and support scientific and knowledge-based outputs while promoting a culture of research within society.
“Moxie”
As part of its participation in the third edition of the Global Media Congress, TRENDS launched the Instagram account of the robot “Moxie” to showcase its interactive role with the audience, especially children. The account highlights Moxie’s capabilities in answering questions related to TRENDS’ publications and events.
An outstanding pavilion
The TRENDS pavilion has drawn significant attention from media leaders, experts, and international officials, who praised the Center’s pivotal role in enriching the media landscape with distinctive knowledge-based content through the specialized events it has organized during the Congress.
