TRENDS Participates in the Bahraini DERASAT Seminar on the Strategic Dimensions of the Strait of Hormuz and Energy Security

14 Apr 2026

The seminar is part of the efforts to examine the rapidly evolving geopolitical implications affecting the stability of the global energy system. TRENDS Research & Advisory is participating in a virtual seminar organized by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT), in partnership with the Arab Energy Forum, on Wednesday, April 15, under the title: “Developments in the Strait of Hormuz: Between Geography and Global Energy Security.” This comes within the framework of examining the rapidly evolving geopolitical implications on the stability of the global energy system. TRENDS’ Vision and Policy Recommendations Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali will present, in the fourth session titled Policy Recommendations for Arab Countries, TRENDS’ vision for strengthening energy security. This includes developing strategic infrastructure, diversifying supply routes, and enhancing regional integration to support Arab countries’ ability to adapt to ongoing geopolitical and economic fluctuations. Strategic Analysis of Supply Challenges The seminar aims to provide an in-depth strategic assessment of the impact of military escalation and disruptions to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical energy transit chokepoints, through which more than 20 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products pass daily. It will also examine the efficiency of alternative supply routes, the capacity of strategic reserves to absorb shocks, and explore future scenarios amid rapid diplomatic shifts, and analyze their implications for regional economic security. An Interactive Dialogue Platform The seminar will be held virtually at 11:30 AM Bahrain time, within an interactive framework that allows experts and specialists to present their insights and analyses, followed by an open discussion to exchange views on the stability of energy markets. At the conclusion of the seminar, a set of practical recommendations will be presented to enhance preparedness and economic resilience and support the sustainability of the energy sector in the face of current challenges.
